we decided it was high time we got some sun on our faces.
for me it was because i met up with the girls yesterday and during the usual photo-whoring, somebody, i think it was manda, commented on how WHITE i was. note: not FAIR, but WHITE. i am NOT WHITE, never WHITE. but to be on the safe side i thought i should, just in case, go tan anywayz.
for hui, my sister, i think she thought needed the exercise after all that studying she's been doing these days.
so we bullied our mummy into driving us to the club, even though she just got back from her Planet Fitness workout, to gym and maybe swim.
after fifteen minutes of the treadmill, i threw in the towel (literally), shamefacedly admitted my stamina wasn't like it used to be, and begged hui to stop. see what not exercising for 6 months does to you? ):
we ended up by the pool. SO NOT swimming. aightaight hui, my bad.

if you have lived in singapore as long as i have (20 yrs), and spent as many years being in a school with a proximity to the 'town' area unrivalled by any other girls' school (think: rgs) as i had, you'd probably be sick, by now, of the crowning glory of all singapore shopping/dining districts: Orchard Road.
with that, i recently made up my mind to explore the rest of singapore and uncover these unchartered territories. of this successful (so far) endeavour, i have some pointers, which i am about to give you, on how you should go about exploring singapore heartland shopping/hip places, without sticking out like a sore thumb amongst other heartlanders...
Rule Number One:
DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT dress up. by dress up i mean, anything you wear to 'town'. i am SERIOUS. your aim is to look chic-ly dressed down, but not overly chic, yet not dresed down enough to look like you just rolled out of bed, or on your way to the pasar malam downstairs.
Rule Number Two:
Sunglasses are a must. you do want to differenciate yourself from the rest of the poly/sec sch teens there right?! but seriously, it's just damn hot outside without one.
Rule Number Three:
Minus all accessories, except maybe small stud earrings. reason: refer to rule number 2
trust me, all the poly and sec sch kiddies accessorise so it's better not to in any case.
and TAADAAA:

there you have it, heartland style
.
.
and outfitted in my heartland best, i hit the Tampines Malls.
i used to live in tampines and over the years since i moved away, the area around the tampines mrt sprouted shopping malls, corporate offices, and exciting new eateries. for shopping, whatever major brands you can find in the orchard road area, you'll be able to find it in tampines mall: mango, fox, levis, clinique, zara etc the list goes on. for food, you can probably find pretty much everything. they have ding tai fung, phin's steakhouse, cafe cartel branches over there, which is quite impressive, considering how just a few years ago i was certain these weren't there.
TM is one cool place to hang out! that is if you overlook the aunties, the secondary sch teens milling around and the fact that it is in the eastern part of singapore. those living in the west, i guess you've got JP *wink betcha don't know what that means.
anyway it is refresing to be some place other than stifling boring orchard and TM is a great alternative. besides it's just a 10 minutes car ride, 20 minutes bus ride away from home, which is half the time i take to travel to town.
that being said, i'll just leave you with the pics.

food food galore.

woohoo ain't this a dead place! well i'm back from the dead guys, and boy am i feeling gorgeous these days.
aight an update quickie, while i still have access to the neighbour's wireless...
by the way i am doing this to the lovely background noise of scrubs, which i used to hate, but now love because of miss siew.
i worked june and half of july away, am too lazy to picassa the rest

dinah, my best pal, aside from norly, in the office
and ruba, who's a rgs girl too, albeit a realllllllyyyy oooollllldddd girl
andy my homo well dressed vice president
dennis my drugaddict goodlooking (so they say) project manager

ok this is up because i think i look DAMN stupid here i'm now all about putting up ugly pics of meself for a change
now with one week away to school, i am glad i am finally released from the shackles of working with StandChart, even though i must say the sense of satisfaction, the lessons learnt and the people met there are yet more precious baubles collected in my treasure hunt of a life.
needless to say, i am so so content and happy, and of course thankful for what life has to offer these days. recently i treated myself to spa sessions, manicures, pedicures, facials and did my first waxing session. (legs only
lah)
i have this recently acquired obsession with dresses, mainly because i think with age comes laziness, and it's just so easy convenient and chic to pull something over my head, slip on matching slippers sunglasses and hit the street.
for anyone out there for cares enough about me to read this blog, i've decided to begin a photo log of all the exciting new places i've discovered, shops, eateries, boutiques etc (:
if you're interested in one of a kind pieces, whether accessories or clothing, gourmet dining or snack places do keep a watch out.
for more exciting snippets of my life (ha ha ha) tune in next week.
so excuse me i must go watch the patriot on axn for the 27th time.
